Another year down and another year started. I got a job at Target working crazy hours to save up for school, loved every minute of it and didn't want to leave to come back to school but I am so close to being done I have to finish. With it, this year brings a whole lot of change. I moved to new apartment complex, with new roommates, a new major and new goals. So far, I'm loving all of the above. Having been an early childhood / special education major pretty much since I applied for school 4 years ago I had blinders on. I had classes I needed to take when I needed to take them, major tests to pass by certain semesters and projects and interviews to get done. As much as I loved the material I was learning the further I got into my major, the more I hated it. Every time I'd get closer to the end and have to come back I would freak out at the idea of it. Student teaching scared me and the idea of it made me sick. I decided life's too short to not love what you're doing and what kind of teacher would I be if I hated teaching? So a month before it was time to come back to school I decided it was time for a change. Which for me is a huge decision in and of itself. After writing various emails to different faculty throughout campus I ended up on the phone with someone in the academic advising center for over an hour talking about my options. Since I'm a senior and about 90% through my major it's difficult to change and there's some hoops to jump through. After talking to him and coming up with some options it was like a giant weight was lifted. Suddenly school wasn't scary, leaving home to come back to Rexburg was now exciting and the idea of graduating became more than just an idea but possible.
After returning to Rexburg and filling out some paper work I changed my major to university studies with a minor in education and 2 clusters in child development and administrate assistant. It's a mouthful but this way I can graduate in July, take classes that I enjoy doing and learn more about the administrative side and can sometime down the road decide to teach if I want. I have 24 more credits and I'm done!
So I came back, moved complexes, with new people who are amazing roommates! I've only been here 2 days but they are so fun and easy to get along with that I think it's going to be a good year.
You're the cutest! I'm so excited to see how schoolio goes! Kick some butt!
